The good people at Ruby's Inn, just outside of Bryce Canyon, are holding the annual Spring fling on February 18th and 19th. They have asked me to come out and present a wildlife photography class on Saturday night. I am really excited to join them this year and look forward to spending a couple of days in the Park, even though it will be very chilly. I hope to come back with some snow photos for you to see later this month.
There is no place better to explore the play of light on a landscape than Bryce National Park. You can photograph direct light, reflected light and even re-reflected light. Don't be afraid to use your telephoto lenses to isolate features that interest you. I hope to see you out there this year. Here are a few samples to whet your appetite. The way you use the light in these photos are awesome! Very inspiring! I've seen a lot of wide angle shots from Bryce, your close-ups are something different, I like it. I remember when I was there back in 2008, I didn't know where to start or what to take photos of, the place is so breathtaking. I'll blog about it soon, but my photos are not even close to yours :)

Thanks for the kind words. The light at Bryce is best when taken in small quantities. I like to find little patches of beauty and then use a telephoto to isolate it. It is hard to know where to begin because it can be overwhelming. I feel the same way about the Grand Canyon. Your photos from there are much better than any that I might have. I guess I need to spend more time there and work th light better.
